Welcome to Hartford United Methodist Church

Hello Friends,

I want to express my compassion and hope to those among His people who are deeply troubled today by the uncertainty of our times.  While our nation and our world have reason to be concerned by the coronavirus that stalks the human family, we need to look for hope in His Word.  I was thinking about 1 Peter 5:7, "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you"...God knows what we are going through and He cares for you.  It is comforting to know that He invites us to call on Him in these distressing times.  He is waiting to hear from you.

We can get upset that things are being cancelled, but our time with the Lord is never cancelled.  We can spend time in His Word and having those conversations with God that we have been putting off because of time restrictions.  This is a time to spend with your loved ones.  Marriages can take advantage of the time and spewnd it in prayer with each other and for one other.  Get into His Word and experience some wisdom from His Holy Spirit.  One of my couples did this last night, they read to one another, then tried to see what God wanted them to learn from it.

We can spend time with our children.  Don't let them hear you say, "Your stuck" with them.  Let them know you will cherish this time...that it is a gift to spend more time with them.  Take some time to play catch outside or play Barbies inside.  Read a Bible stroy to them, find out what they are thinking...Spend some quality time with them.  When was the last time you had a encouraging talk with your teenager?  I have books in the office if you need ideas for this time off.  I will be in the office on Wednesdays and can be there other times if you jus let me know.

Many of us could find it easy to succumb to worry and fear but we must lay these feelings at His feet.  He's got this and so do you.  Take charge of these feelings by giving them to Him - turn to the Lord for encouragement and comfort.  With much love I am here for you...let me know how I can help.

May God Bless you and yours,

Pastor MaryAnn Rufener      (330) 772-4303
